I read this article this morning, with the intriguing title "Energy Medicine: Futuristic Healing With Ancient Roots"... as this is something close to my heart, I naturally read on and wanted to expose some basic AiM beliefs and teachings about energetic in the human body. Read the article for the depths, I just want to quote his words concerning the body's natural desire to heal:

"At the same time that energy medicine practitioners have begun to explore the fields and forces within the organism that have self-organizing and self-healing capacities, practitioners of modern medicine have begun to recognize self-regulating processes within the organism that work to defend and heal the individual. Both groups are perhaps uncovering the same field phenomena. Whatever one calls this self-healing/self-regulating capacity, this inherent defensive and survival strategy helps the organism act with wisdom in adapting to all stresses and to heal and transform itself as it acquires greater complexity and biological strength.

Ultimately, the concepts of energy medicine are futuristic, even though many of the most popular modern-day energy medicine practices are hundreds or even thousands of years old. Thinking of the health and life of living organism in the light of energetics and field phenomena represents an important shift of perspective, and a predictable evolutionary step in the development of science and medicine" (Dana Ullman)

When we use the AiM method to tap into both the physical and energetic pathways of the human body we begin to reach into the body's own self-regulatory environment for healing... Put another way:

We get the body to do the healing

Physically we see the transformation take place in terms of posture and alignment, energetically we see the transformation take place in terms of efficiency, healing (pain reduction, increase rehab time) and this naturally taps into an emotional environment where energy is released from the system emotionally.

While AiM tends to focus purely on the physical body, we cannot deny the impact of the energetic system and we explore it closely in our Level two and three courses. The idea of using the ancient past to heal the future is something that inspires me a lot. It matches up nicely with the global versus local approach we see in the modern day: A Shaman sees the world as a holistic interconnected organism and modern medicine tends to break things down so much we look at parts instead of the whole.

There is nothing wrong with either approach, but with AiM you'll learn to add the global approach to your repertoire enhancing your results potential simply by tapping into the body's own internal healing environment.

There are clues in this post and the article as to why stretching and working muscles in isolation have minimal, if any, impact on the human body.
