AiM Climbing Bootcamp

Climbing is three dimensional. There are no uni-planar movements or isolated movements involved in climbing a rock face or bouldering wall. When we look at traditional exercises and stretch programmes aimed at the climber, we find uni-planar, isolated solutions. What you need to truly complement your climbing is an awareness of three dimensional training which enhances strength, whole body neural and joint communication, stability, mobility & power – all at the same time.

Biomechanics and training expert Gary Ward teams up with a climbing expert to deliver biomechanical assessments, administer corrective and developmental exercise patterns and provide coaching tips and ongoing programmes designed to enhance your application of exercise for climbing with results that you will notice instantaneously on the wall. Your climbing as well as your every day movement patterns are enhanced when using the AiM Technology.

Many people say climbing alone is enough. Yet climbing alone is done within the boundaries of your own body which results with you climbing using compensatory movements rather than with the full potential of your musculo-skeletal system. The biomechanical assessments highlight such inhibitions in your body, the AiM Technology overrides them easily and the coach provides tips and awareness about the climbing technique itself.

Adrian Baxter, British Team Rock Climber, claims that with just a small increase of range at a hip joint, the impossible becomes possible and new levels of climbing are achievable as the body allows more freedom to explore the wall. Range, balance, poise, strength and power are all part of the AiM package and the results are profound.

One day workshop:

  • You’ll need training attire
  • Be prepared to go bare foot in the workshop
  • Open to injured clients who want to locate the root cause of their injury and are eager to return to climbing in a safe, effective and well managed environment – sooner rather than later.
  • Open to all levels of climber... even the pro’s! Everyone can have a break through here

“I had perthes disease as a child and spent much of my childhood and early teens in a wheelchair and braces. Thanks to medical science I was able to be free of their shackles and lead a normal life. I got in to climbing and in the last few years have held the title of Britain’s best climber, and annually compete in the World Championships. When I met Gary, I told him I had forever had limited range in the hip that suffered as a child. It meant that I would get tired forearms when compensating for that lack of range. Gary’s exercises and corrective approach increased the range in my hip flexion by a good few inches which instantly took the pressure off my forearms. I have used the movements to this day to ensure I always maintain great range in the hip.”
