“Gary was an indispensable part of the 777 team from the very start, analysing posture and explaining the relationship to efficiency when running. He helped improve my running technique and gait and was constantly on hand throughout the seven days to cure and prevent any strains/pulls as I went along.
Most notably in Santiago airport after the first 100km in 20 hours - Gary worked purely with my hamstrings to overcome the pain in my ankle which was so bad I thought my expedition was over.
It took him about ten minutes... and I went on to break the world record.”
“The idea of running 7 ultra marathons in 7 consecutive days on all 7 continents is daunting to say the least, which is in part why no human being had ever attempted such a challenge before our attempt. Being a complete novice runner, I was staring at the almost impossible, to be fit and conditioned in just 2 months. Working with Gary pre challenge enabled my body to adjust rapidly to the impact and stress of long distance running. Thankfully he joined us for the 350km event and if it were not for him my body would have packed up way before the end. He is the horse whisper of the human body.
Gary’s approach to body movement is specialist and unique, and without him or his self developed skills my experience of running 350km in just one week would have been a very different one – and I am sure my objective of completing the full distance wouldn’t have been achieved without his extraordinary input – not to mention his calm demeanor – just what was needed for one of the hardest endurance foot races in the world.
He is the human horse whisper. Gary’s input to the 777 event was nothing short of miraculous, and I urge all reading to stand up, prick your ears and take note. He enabled us to achieve something extraordinary with his out of the box anatomy knowledge and thinking which revolutionizes traditional movement methods.”
“I had perthes disease as a child and spent much of my childhood and early teens in a wheelchair and braces. Thanks to medical science I was able to be free of their shackles and lead a normal life. I got in to climbing and in the last few years have held the title of Britain’s best climber, and annually compete in the World Championships. When I met Gary, I told him I had forever had limited range in the hip that suffered as a child. It meant that I would get tired forearms when compensating for that lack of range. Gary’s exercises and corrective approach increased the range in my hip flexion by a good few inches which instantly took the pressure off my forearms. I have used the movements to this day to ensure I always maintain great range in the hip.”

“AiMs “Finding Centre” course has been a revelation for me. I qualified as a Personal Trainer in March 2008 and attended a workshop with Gary and Hamish in September to hear what their course could offer me. I sustained a serious injury to my right big toe joint years ago which gave me a limp and meant that walking barefoot was a painful experience. I realised that this would have knock-on effects through the rest of my body but didn’t have a full understanding of why. I was a good candidate to demonstrate the importance of this joint and the foot in general.
Gary spent approximately 10-15 minutes doing various exercises with me. Lo-and-behold, the pain was gone, I was able to walk barefoot pain-free, my stride length increased, my lower back pain disappeared, a 10km run was a breeze and my recurrently dislocating left shoulder is now stronger than ever. I was blown away and after a couple of days of trying to understand what had just happened I decided I had to sign up for the course! If it had that much of an effect on me, how much impact could it have on my clients?
I have just completed Level 3 and can’t wait until Level 4 in February. My own body and mind have changed in so many ways and I can honestly say that I feel amazing. I achieve much better results with clients and am able to help people in pain rather than working around the pain or injury. The amount that I have learned so far is quite incredible and it is all down to the hugely accessible way in which Gary and Hamish approach the subject…they have a true passion for what they do and deliver the course in an incredibly enjoyable and fun way.
Without doubt it has been the best investment I could have made. I believe AiM and BioMechanics Workshop blows the likes of C.H.E.K. and F.A.S.T.E.R. out of the water- and that’s a bold statement. It truly is a degree’s worth of knowledge…and then some!”
“For the past 10 years I have had shin pain whenever I have run, it stopped me from pursuing my track 400m dreams at the age of 17. I was told to get orthotics which I did but they did nothing to heal or prevent the pain. I went to numerous physios and they all tried to treat the symptoms instead of giving me a reason as to why it was occurring in the first place. At one point it even hurt to walk, after which I give up on athletics and went to uni instead.
Before I came over from oz I was seeing a chiropractor for my back as it was porly aligned. Anyway I told her of my problem and she went to work on my spine and I could get up to running for 10-15 mins on a treadmill non-stop before my shins started hurting, that was 19 months ago. I now run occasionally as the idea of shin pain isn’t great so I avoid it when I can.
After level 3 and the work we did, I said it hurt to walk on my heels; I did more heel rocker work and adductor and hamstring movement stretches by myself and with my clients (so i do them a lot), I noticed after my heel stopped burning that when I walked I picked my toes up more, Meaning i stopped tripping over the pavement! I did a couple of 5 min warm up runs and noticed that my legs felt more loaded, they were quite tired after 5 mins and I noticed I was running more heel to toe, not just on my toes.
Anyway I ran 5km on saturday, the furthest I have run in years. But I had no shin pain at all, no niggles. I could feel my calves and quads working more than I ever have when running in the past. I know its only one run, but I am really impressed with the level of improvement I have felt in my legs when it comes to running. Also the lateral aspect of my quads are more sore than the medial which shows that something drastic has changed in the workings of my foot.
I came here looking for answers for my clients and found untold possibilities for myself too.
Thank you AiM.”
“I have been training with Gary for 6 months now and he has done more to resolve long standing issues I have had than any other manual or movement therapy. With his help I have been able to wake up muscles that I thought were functioning OK and I have been pain free for 2 months now in spite of a heavy training regime. I have also taken a lot of what I have learnt into every part of my practice which has revolutionised the way I look at movement.”
Client Testimonials:
“I came to you with what the doctor had diagnosed as sciatica that had prevented me from running for almost a month, with a four to six week recovery diagnosed.
You reckoned that after one session the problem would be largely resolved.
That was a bold claim, about which I was hugely skeptical.
You were right, I was wrong. I was astonished by the difference that one session made. And this afternoon, in the sunshine, I'm planning to go for a run.
Thank You”
“After my operation the rehab programme was virtually non existent, however Gary’s techniques enabled me to develop movement, co ordination and strength in the joints rapidly, enabling me to lead a pain free life. Of course this is due to the new joints but the speed of recovery from the operation has been greatly enhanced thanks I am sure to Gary’s whole body approach, re training my spine, hips, knees and feet to work in the way they were meant.”
“Gary’s very revolutionary techniques really focus on how the body works in unison. Prior to seeing Gary I had seen 3 different physios, all of which seemed good but none were able to help me in the long run. Despite all their efforts I was still not able to run (I would get incredibly bad shin splints - so much so, that it actually hurt to walk). However after 2 sessions with Gary at the beginning of the summer I went out and did a 3 mile run (the first in 2 years) and have been running ever since.”
“I don’t know how he did it but he did. Where everyone else failed, the work with Gary got me up and running again… overnight! I do my first half marathon again in a month. One month ago I thought it would never happen…”
